MASTER PROJECT IN LIÈGE, BELGIUM
In the research phase of this project, I realized how the post-war history of Liège is characterized by unsystematic major projects, that have often caused more harm than good in the long term development of the city. So the focus of the analysis was to identify a development pattern that will not trigger these negative effects. The masterplan envisions a unification of green spaces in the Coronmeuse area into a large park without major construction, except for several accents to attract various groups of visitors.
One of these accents is a refurbishment of the former Expo pavilion, which I transformed into a joint conference center and art center. The building is extended with respect to its iconic appearance to feature an art gallery, artist workshops, and a congress hall in the main space.
